Welcome to my blog, where I share the behind-the-scenes stories of my first open stuido.
The Application Process
It all began in January when I decided to apply for the Warwickshire Open Studios event, a significant annual celebration of local artists. Alongside 400 other talented artists, I eagerly awaited the chance to showcase my work to a broader audience.
Finding the Perfect Venues
I was fortunate to secure two incredible venues to display my artwork. The first was Classic Interiors, a charming, family-run furniture store in Coventry. The cozy, welcoming atmosphere made it feel like I was on a delightful work experience. The staff were incredibly kind and supportive, making my time there memorable. If you’re ever in need of furniture for your home, I highly recommend checking out Classic Interiors for their diverse range of options.
The second venue was the stunning Makers Space, a barn-like venue nestled in the beautiful countryside of Alcester. This location offered a serene backdrop, perfect for displaying art. Here, I had the privilege of exhibiting alongside 23 other talented artists, including Jeema, Hannah, Francis, Hayley, Paula, Ginte, and Charlie .The collaborative environment was inspiring, and I learned about new materials and techniques from my fellow artists, which I’m eager to experiment with in the future.
Preparing for the Exhibition
The preparation phase was a whirlwind of activity painting nearly 3-4 times a week for months. And not to forget ordering new merchandising , packing artwork, framing and then the love of every artist pricing. Social media became my best friend as I promoted my upcoming exhibitions, connecting with potential visitors and fellow artists.
The Exhibition Days
The first two weeks at Classic Interiors were incredible. The venue’s warm ambiance made it a perfect spot for showcasing my art. Visitors not only admired my work but also found inspiration in the beautifully curated furniture displays. The interactions with art lovers and potential buyers were both enlightening and encouraging.
The final three days at Makers Space were equally exhilarating. The picturesque countryside setting added a unique charm to the event. Engaging with other artists and art enthusiasts was a highlight, as we exchanged ideas and shared our creative journeys. The collaborative spirit at Makers Space was truly motivating, and I left with a wealth of new inspiration and potential material to explore in my future works.
Reflecting on the Journey
One of the most exciting aspects of this experience was the visitor turnout. Over the course of three weeks, I had the chance to meet over 600 people! The overwhelming support and interest in my work were incredibly motivating and have inspired me to continue exploring and creating. It was a journey filled with learning, growth, and countless memorable moments.
